I have worked as a goldsmith and precious stone setter for the past 24 years, in my birth country of South Africa, Hatton Garden in London and now returning to my ancestral roots in rural South East Scotland. I have always loved art and creativity and started out in the jewellery business the old-fashioned way, studying under and serving various Masters as an apprentice, (5 years goldsmithing and 5 years precious stone setting) before running various shops and workshops.
I love jewellery and am passionate about making it. I believe that everyone has it within them to be creative! By encouraging and working together, you become involved in the process of making your own piece of jewellery, as much or as little as you like.
My inspirations include... Nature, Art, Architecture, Colour, Faberge, the 1920’s, and African arts and crafts, specifically Ndebele and Zulu seed bead and artwork. The release of President Mandela inspired my Peace 2000 range whilst living and working in Sir Lowry’s Pass in Cape Town where I ran my own jewellery business for 6 years.
Creating and making bespoke jewellery is an adventure with my client and I love the challenges and personal approach this offers. Sometimes this means pushing boundaries and comfort zones I would otherwise not explore in the creation of something unique, memorable, and lovingly made.
Inspiration...
Ndebele house and seed bead Art and craft.
